Les Granels is set in 25 hectares of private grounds, so you have plenty of space to explore without even leaving the property! In the immediate area the road that ends at Les Granels is very pretty and quiet and perfect for a longer walk.

If you feel like exploring a little further afield, then you are staying in the middle of a beautiful area. The Lot valley is divided into three main areas. The Causse which dominates and gives our landscape its distinctive character, then the green hills and valleys to the west and northeast Quercy Blanc and Ségala. This wonderful variety of landscapes makes the Lot a perfect area for walking.

Most striking to see are the incredible cliff-lined river valleys of the Lot, Célé and Dordogne. Over many millions of years they have carved their way through the limestone plateau of the Causse to eye-catching and spectacular Canyons. Add to this the picturesque towns in the area and you have a perfect place for walking, be it a short wander or a day-long hike.

Swim in the lake

There are many swimming lakes (Plan d'eau) to choose from and most have facilities for safe bathing, watersports, fishing, as well as the ubiquitous boules court and picnic area. They are usually well signposted from nearby villages and the local tourist office will be able to point out the nearest one and explain the facilities it offers.

There is also a brand new aquatics centre in Cahors. The centre has a large swimming pool and a teaching pool (swimming lessons, aquagym and aquabike).  For little ones there is a fun pool with slides, bubbles, massage jets and waves. There is also a small paddling pool with games for the 2-3 year-olds. For the grown ups there is a spa facility with a sauna, fun showers and a spa bath. The pool is open from 1st April (closed in July and August). Adults €6.30, Children (under 16yrs) €5.10. Under 3 year old's are free.
